So I finally had some time to get out on the trails to take some autumn photos and guess what... there is hardly any autumn out there at all! There's the odd tree with a touch of colour, but any leaves that fall onto the ground get scooped up by landscapers like they're coated in anthrax! All the bushes with berries have been cut back and all the wildflowers chopped away. Geez people, are we that allergic to a little nature!

Anyway, this photo was taken at the neighbour lake early in the morning before the sun was up in the sky. I just love me a misty morning!

As summer comes to a close, my sweet friends the Red Breasted Nuthatches have started to visit again. Much like the Chickadees, they perch outside and chirp to let me know it's time to load my hand up with treats. They sure do capture my heart!

WET GRACKLE!! HA!

I'm just so in love with the Blue Jays. Such smart and beautiful birds. We don't get many in the summer time, but hopefully I will get the chance to see more of them soon.

Still riding my Heron high! One of my favourite experiences this summer!

When someone steals your peanut and you refuse to just let it go...

"So I'm sitting here enjoying my lunch and I'm thinking to myself...lady, buy a lawnmower would ya!
~a trail friend~

My best bud Crazy Karen has had a horrible summer. She has had two very serious injuries, one right after the other just after Baby Kay was born. She seems to be mostly healed up now, and although she still has a limp and she still lays down when she eats, she's smiling again and that brings joy to my heart. Stay strong little girl, I love you!!!

"I'M TAKING THIS!"

It's been a hectic couple of weeks to start off October, so I haven't had a chance to take a single walk and enjoy the autumn colours yet. The weather has cooled off though and I am entirely thankful for that. Hoping things will settle down a bit now that summer is over... just in time for the holiday craziness to start! lol

For my birds today, this lovely juvenile Red Winged Blackbird...

a gorgeous male Cardinal...

and a sweet sweet Black Capped Chickadee...

"I wants that cookie! Give... it... to... me... I... can... all... most... reach"
~Big Kate~

MY FIRST DEER! Aaaaaaa!
I just love these animals, they are so sweet and adorable! Don't you just want to hug them!

'Oh, thank you kind lady for the peanut, and if you see my kids will you throw them one too!"
~One Eyed Willamina~

"My Mom says it rude to talk with my mouth full, so can we do this later?"
~Tingle~

"Just eat the peanut. There's no human watching you. Everything's gonna be ohhhhhhh kay. Just eat the peanut."
~Butch~

"Would you believe me if I said I was just borrowing it?"
~Mistro~

OK, so I'm not big on bugs, but this photo was a special one for me. I've been experimenting with macro photography for about a year now, and this is my first truly successful shot!! This little bug is smaller than a grain of rice, barely visible to the naked eye! WHAT!?!

That's it for today. Thank you for stopping in and for all the amazing comments. If you have any questions or interesting tidbits about today's wildlife, please let me know.

So I've been trying to grab some cute pics of the squirrels playing in the leaves, but the darned city workers rake them up as fast as they can fall. I've decided to take a bag out to The Shire, fill it up with leaves and then dump it on the grass in the park, just so I can get some darned autumn shots! Wonder if that's considered littering? lol.

Meanwhile, a quick trick of the eye with this landscape photo. It's actually not an autumn shot. I took this as the sun came up and lit up the tops of the trees. Sure looks like autumn leaves, doesn't it!

"Wait, this is my good side, ok go ahead and take the picture now."
~Mr Blue Jay~

During the horrific heat wave we had last week, I noticed the birds trying to sit in the squirrel water dish, but they keep getting chased away, so I have put out a nice new hanging bird bath for them that the squirrels can't reach. This Sparrow is trying to figure out what it is. Hilarious!

Since I discovered Pigeons, I've been fascinated with the amazing variety of colours and patterns these beautiful birds come in. What a remarkable bird!

"Pardon me Ma'am. You got any spare food for a hungry old gal? I'll let'cha pet me!"
~African Pygmy Goat~

"How long do I have to sit pretty before you throw me a frickin' cookie!"
~Stan Lee~

"I am not the frog you're looking for!"
~Baby Kay~

"Excuse me Miss. I found this on the forest floor, but there's only half. Do you happen to have the other half?"
~a trail friend~
